Following the devastating and tragic flooding in eastern Kentucky, the City of Richmond is donating a police cruiser, computer equipment, groceries, and cleaning supplies to the areas most impacted by the flooding event.

“Just as we did when the tornadoes hit western Kentucky in December, the city looked at our resources to determine what we could donate to best address the needs of the region,” Richmond City Manager Rob Minerich said. “The Commission stepped up and approved the surplus of equipment and we’re happy to help however we can.”

The City of Hazard will be receiving the donated police cruiser, while the computer equipment will be donated to Mountain Comprehensive Healthcare Corporation, a nonprofit health clinic with multiple locations in eastern Kentucky.

The Richmond Police Department recently partnered with Kroger on Aug. 7 to accept donations to be delivered to the region. Items donated by the public during this event filled up four police cruisers and a van, and those supplies will be delivered to eastern Kentucky by the Richmond Police Department.

The City of Richmond also donated $1,000 worth of cleaning supplies to Richmond Boy Scout Troop 401. The Troop traveled to Cordia School in Perry County on Aug. 12 to deliver the much-needed supplies, which also included, bottled water, shovels, and floor squeegees.
