The host nation’s Nanna Merrald Rasmussen (Blue Hors Zack), Carina Cassøe Krüth (Heiline’s Danciera), Daniel Bachmann Andersen (Marshall-Bell) and Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour (Vamos Amigos) claimed team gold on home ground at the ECCO FEI World Championships in Herning, Denmark, last night.

After impressive recent results, the Danes were always favourites to take the title for their country for the very first time. But Great Britain pushed them all the way, taking silver with a score of 234.223, just 1.228 percentage points behind the winners, while the 12-time champions from Germany claimed the bronze.

In a hard-fought battle to the very end, the highest score of 81.863% posted by Laudrup-Dufour finally clinched it.

Sweden just missed out on the medals when coming in fourth ahead of The Netherlands in fifth and USA in sixth place. The top six nations have now qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The top 30 combinations go through to the individual Grand Prix Special.

The New Zealand contingent went through highs and lows, with Melissa Galloway and Windermere J’Obei W posting  70.978% for a personal best, and elimination for Gaylene Lennard and Jax Johnson.

They were eliminated after a post-test mouth swab returned a slight pink coloration. FEI has zero tolerance on any coloration, meaning immediate elimination.

Galloway and Windermere J’Obei W finished in 33rd place, just missing out on going through to the Grand Prix Special. The team’s third member, John Thompson posted 68.059 on Chemistry to finish in 62rd place of the 88 finishers.
